New Legislation Takes Aim at Newberg Pool Towed Water Sports

No, this is not déjà vu. Unfortunately, misguided legislators have once again introduced legislation that would significantly limit towed water sports in the Newberg Pool area of the Willamette River. It’s imperative all boaters take just two minutes to oppose today.

SB 1589 will crush the local boating community by banning wake surfing outright and arbitrarily limiting all other towed sports such as tubing, waterskiing and wakeboarding to boats under 5,000 pounds. Furthermore, the bill extends the Newberg Pool by eight additional miles, making these regulations applicable from Willamette Falls all the way to the mouth of the Yamhill River!

Now is the time for the boating community to speak up. Ask your local lawmakers to support Oregon families and small businesses by opposing SB 1589. Tell them: The Newberg Pool should be safely shared!

Stay tuned for the opportunity to testify at an upcoming hearing. This bill could make it to the next phase of the legislative process at any moment. It’s imperative the entire boating community oppose this unnecessary legislation during all six steps of the legislative process.

Take two minutes to oppose today and save Oregon families and small businesses.
